  5. Continuing Professional Development • Continuing Professional Development ( CPD) is a natural part of daily and work life.. • It is NOT a separate activity. • The separate activity is reflecting and recording those activities that contribute towards your CPD. • CPD helps members create a structured learning programme. • CPD identifies knowledge gaps and can contribute to developing a structured career pathway. • CPD is about improving your skills, knowledge and expertise.

  6. Value of CPD to Members • It helps to highlight gaps in your knowledge, skills, and experience. • CPD enables you to track your learning and progress. • It builds confidence and credibility. • CPD creates a professional impression at appraisals and job interviews. • Completing CPD can help you maximise your earning potential. • It demonstrates to your employers that you are serious about maintaining your skills and knowledge.

  7. Value of CPD to Organisations • CPD benefits all professionals and is important for personal and professional development. • It can also be useful to inform at annual appraisals, or personal reviews ,that managers complete with their staff. • CPD promotes better staff morale and motivates the workforce. • It portrays a positive image of your company to other organisations. • It helps employees to focus on individual achievements throughout the year.

  8. Setting up your CPD – Your Development Plan • This is first stage in setting up your online CPD. • Your Development plan should include notes under the following headings: 1. Your duties and responsibilities ( this could be a description of your current role) 2. Objective s ( any objectives you are working to achieve over the next 6- 12 months ) 3 Personal development ( this could be any personal plans you have to develop any area’s of weakness ) • Members should review and update their development plan on a regular basis .

  9. Planning your CPD • The most common answer given by members for not completing CPD is “I don’t have enough time” • We have developed an Interactive CPD Planner to help members address this. ( Available on Request ) • The planner divides the year into 4 quarters and helps members to manage their CPD input time. • Set aside 40 minutes at the end of each quarter to upload your CPD activities onto the microsite : Review : Reflec t: Record: • The CPD planner has a link that takes members to the Blueprint landing page where they can log in and complete a personal self assessment analysis. • Once the self assessment analysis has been completed it can be used to support your online CPD activities.
