Crazy Coil Vessel [kgravesart]
Inspiration: Some people believe that coil pottery was discovered as early as 200 BC by Native Americans of the Southwestern U.S.
The story is that a cook lined a basket with pinched coils of clay, let it dry in the sun, and then left the clay-lined basked too close to the fire.
The basket burned away, and in the process, fired the clay.
This new vessel didn't leak or burn up, and could be used to boil water and heat food efficiently.
Coil construction continues to be a popular method of clay construction throughout the world today.
