Choosing Courses • Free Choice via website • S4 choose 5 plus English and Maths • S5 choose 5 subjects • S6 choose at least 4 Higher/Level 5 OR 3 Advanced Highers • Two reserves • Success confirmed post-Easter • Note: still no guarantees as 100% success rate is highly unlikely
Timescales • Assemblies with pupils – pre-February break • GDPR letter • Course choice booklet available by February break • Usernames/passwords/link to website 17th February • Website closes Sunday 1 st March • Recommendation: Start discussions at home and with teachers now
You need to know…! • Usernames and passwords will be given to pupils on return from February break • The link will be sent to you via email • The course choice booklets will be on the school website if required • When you hit confirm – that’s it! You can’t go back and make changes. • The system will close at the end of February – choices must be entered by then or they are not accounted for in creating the columns.
And you really need to know… • The system ranks your choices from 1 – 5. • You MUST make sure your child prioritises! • The same applies to the two reserve choices
Support to choose • PSLs will meet with each pupil to discuss • Gillian Ross is available for appointments and drop-ins. • Subject teachers have lots of specialist knowledge - encourage your children to talk to them • University and college websites provide a wealth of information.
