The decision to dropout has tragic consequences for each student. A dropout will qualify for only 12% of available jobs. A dropout will more likely be laid off in a weak economy. A dropout can expect to earn around $19,000 per year, below the poverty line for a family of four. A dropout is more likely to be arrested and incarcerated. A dropout is more likely to require public assistance, be in poor health, and the single parent of a future dropout.
