Overview of Community Safety
Community Safety Team Purpose: To work with partners, communities and residents to make the Royal Borough a safer place to live, work, visit and study. Reducing Enforcement Engagement Crime and Partnerships and and Anti-Social Safeguarding Collaboration Behaviour

Serious Youth Burglary Violence (SYV) Strategic Priorities Anti-Social Hate Behaviour Crime (ASB) Violence Modern Against Slavery & Women Exploitation and Girls (MSE) (VAWG)
Purpose The ASB team is responsible for coordinating the response to low-level crime and ASB across the borough; anti-social behaviour encompasses a broad range of issues that affect vulnerable individuals and communities. Commissioned Services: Community Police Team (CPT) Anti-Social Lead Behaviour Rachel Merriman, Senior Community Safety Officer Team (ASB) Andy Udall, ASB Coordinator Elaine Chumnery, ASB Coordinator (currently on secondment) Lizzie Lambrou, National Management Trainee
Hate Crime Purpose To tackle repeat and entrenched anti-social behaviour which is both place and people based. Commissioned Services: Victim Support Lead: Lorna Platt, Senior Community Safety Officer Hate Crime & Burglary Burglary Purpose To reduce repeat victimisation of victims of burglary; especially vulnerable residents. Commissioned Services: Target Hardening Project, Sanctuary Project (specific Target Hardening for Victim / Survivors of Domestic Abuse), Target hardening project for family members affected by SYV, and Smarter Safer Homes Pilot Project Lead: David Cunningham, Community Safety Officer
Purpose To prevent serious youth violence and gang crime by: • diverting, disrupting and enforcing against known offenders; whilst • preventing those at risk of serious youth violence and gang involvement becoming tomorrow’s offenders. Serious Youth Violence (SYV) Commissioned Services: Targeted Prevention Team, Young Adults Violence Reduction Project, IGXU Gangs worker, and St Giles SOS Team: Stacie Smith, Senior Community Safety Officer Philipp Leeta, Serious Youth Violence Coordinator
Purpose Delivering a coordinated community response to VAWG which ensures that all relevant organisations effectively respond to these issues both within their own agencies and in collaboration with other partners to prevent harm, reduce risk and increase immediate and long-term safety for people living, studying, working and travelling Violence to all three boroughs. Against Commissioned Services: The Angelou Partnership: 10 Women and specialist services working to end VAWG. Girls (VAWG) & Lead: Shabana Kausar, Tri-Borough Strategic Lead for Modern VAWG Slavery and Exploitation Purpose To raise awareness of modern slavery and exploitation, (MSE) resulting in an increase of victim identification; to provide necessary support to enable survivors of trafficking to recover; to build communities which are resilient to human trafficking; and to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
