  10. La COMUNIDAD - Latino and Latina college students receive assistance with their efforts to earn a  certificate, graduate with an Associate’s degree, or transfer to a four -year institution. The program helps students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the college environment and ensure their success in higher education. BLACK SCHOLARS - The mission of Black Scholars is to help African American college students achieve their  academic and career goals by increasing their retention, persistence, and graduation rates. GUARDIAN SCHOLARS - Guardian Scholars is a supportive network committed to empowering current and  former foster youth to achieve their academic, career, and personal goals. The program encourages student growth and development through meaningful interactions during individual, group, and in-class sessions. As a community, it is designed to help students attain success throughout their collegiate journey. Students Providing Assistance Resources and Knowledge (SPARK) - The primary  objective of the SPARK peer- mentoring program is to contribute to the advancement of first-year students by aiding in their academic, emotional, and social adjustments to college. To become a mentor, contact the Center for Student Involvement. LATINO LEADERSHIP ACADEMY - The mission of the Latino Leadership Academy is to inspire, engage,  and empower Latina/Latino students to become agents of change and advocates for all students at GCC.
