College and Career Readiness: What High School Parents Need to Know Fall 2019
Jurupa Unified School District Goal #1: All students graduate college and career ready.
Why does College and Career Readiness Matter? ● More and more, economic opportunities go to those with some training or college degree ● Our local and CA economy depends on having a workforce that is well trained/educated. By 2025, 65% of jobs in CA will require a bachelor’s degree or higher (CA Public Policy Institute). ● At the current rate of education attainment, CA will fall short of this need by 1.1 million degrees https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nrvJKxEXss&feature=youtu.be
In JUSD, what do we mean by college? College is a broad term we use to describe ANY education after high school graduation. ● Apprenticeship ● Job Training - Military ● Job Training - Vocational School or CC ● Associate’s Degree - CC ● Bachelor’s Degree ● Advanced or Professional Degree
