CO 2 Value Europe integrates stakeholders from the complete CCU value chain across industries The only European association dedicated to CO 2 Utilisation and bringing together partners from the complete value chain Multinational Companies, SMEs, Regional Clusters, Research Institutions, Universities 7
Our vision: make CCU a key pillar of the transition to a sustainable economy Climate mitigation Net reduction of global CO 2 Biomass Electrification emissions from the process industry and from the transportation sectors Renewables Hydrogen (road, air, maritime) Renewable feedstock Process efficiency CCS CCU Replacing fossil carbon by utilization of CO 2 as a feedstock Components of a for the chemicals, materials and sustainable economy fuels industries 8
Our mission: create a scalable carbon recycling industry Promote the development and market deployment of Our sustainable industrial solutions that convert CO 2 into official valuable products, in order to contribute to the net mission reduction of global CO 2 emissions and to the statement diversification of the feedstock base. We want to create a CCU industry sector with scalable business models for real impact of carbon recycling . 9
Our values: focus only on CCU projects that contribute to climate change mitigation Membership charter Support LCA standardization ” We will only promote CCU solutions that effectively contribute to a net reduction of global CO 2 emissions based on accepted LCA Published 8 October 2018 standards " 10
CCU can lead to a net reduction of global CO 2 emissions… CO 2 …in the case of permanent sequestration… … but also in cases where CO 2 gets finally re-emitted 11
Our strategy: catalysing the creation of a CCU industry by focusing on CO 2 capture & conversion expertise… Conversion & capture Upstream Downstream CO 2 sources Refining, distribution CO 2 capture & infrastructure & Renewable electricity conversion markets for CCU technologies Raw materials & waste products Key focus = our DNA … and attracting stakeholders from the complete value chain
Our value proposition: address key issues faced by CCU value chains, with focus on conversion Upstream Conversion Downstream CO 2 sources Refining, distribution CO 2 capture & infrastructure & Renewable electricity conversion markets for CCU technologies Raw materials & waste products Identification & Favourable regulatory 1. Collective Favourable regulatory development of most framework for intelligence access to inputs promising products technologies 2. Upscaling Access to low-cost Product acceptance by Feasibility, cost & demo- captured CO 2 and existing infrastructure reduction & upscaling projects renewable electricity & players Appropriate funding 3. Awareness & advocacy Demonstration of environmental benefits (via LCA) & other benefits of CCU 13
Our actions focus on 3 priorities 1. Collective intelligence of CO 2 capture & conversion technologies • Mutualize info on technologies (WHAT) and on stakeholders (WHO) • Contribute to the definition of strategic R&I roadmaps 2. Up-scaling and demo projects • Connect partners to build flagship pilot/demo projects • Help project developers access to EU funding schemes (ETS Innovation Fund, IPCEI, EIB, Horizon 2020/Europe) 3. Awareness and advocacy • Raise awareness and acceptance of CCU • Advocate for favourable regulatory framework and market incentives • Develop industry standards and rules across the CCU value chain 14
We support access to the EU Innovation Fund, a unique opportunity to upscale CCU projects • Official representative of CCU sector in Innovation Fund Expert Group, involved in defining process and evaluation criteria • Support to consortium partners in preparation for first call (June 2020): • € 1 - 1,5 billion funding • IF support up to 60% of “additional costs” 15
