• The school follows the ENTRUST Education Policy to ensure the safety, safeguarding and well being of all pupils . • All the sites that we visit are risk assessed by the school and we use the risk assessment associated with each centre • The centre has appropriately qualified staff and we make sure that we meet ( and often exceed ) required ratios of our qualified staff with the requirements of the activity. • Pupils are supervised within the centre and whilst off the site. • All pupils are reminded that they must follow our non-negotiables in order to keep themselves and others safe at all times and when they have “down time”. • We expect all children to act in the same responsible manner at the centre as they would at school.
Travel To and From The Centre Children wear seat belts on all journeys. We leave school at 9.30 am Wednesday morning. We return to school at 2:45pm Friday afternoon.

Climbing Pupils are given the opportunity to both climb and also belay other pupils whilst they climb the wall.
Kayaking / Canoeing
Activities of this sort encourage all pupils to get involved, with them often working with children they don’t normally socialise with .
Evening activities • After the evening meal children are given an opportunity to visit the tuck shop where drinks and small gifts are on sale. The evening sessions include: • Campfire • Global Domination / Dingbats
Accommodation Children sleep in dormitories. Two dormitories, one for boys & one for girls in different sections of the building. (with teachers in between) Each child has a locker in which they keep their clothes and toiletries. Pillows and duvets are not feather Teachers / Centre Staff sleep in adjoining rooms. There is a member of the centre staff on duty during the night and the centre is securely locked. .
Meals There is a cooked meal EVERY evening and at Friday lunchtime before the pupils return home A cooked breakfast is available every day together with limitless cereals, toast, milk and tea. Wednesday and Thursday children are provided with a packed lunch If your child is allergic to any particular food - please let us know. Vegetarians are catered for as are specific food requirements
WH WHAT T TO T TAKE AKE
Duties • Children are expected to make their own beds and keep the sleeping areas tidy. • Children are divided into 12 squads and each squad is allocated a duty which they carry out after breakfast and the evening meal. • Duties include: sweeping, wiping tables, dusting, cleaning minibuses etc. • Duties earn squad points and the squad with the most points each day is given a reward. • Squad points are also rewarded for answering questions and good behaviour.
Medical Forms These have been given to your child and MUST be returned promptly. Any medication must be brought with your child on Wednesday morning, clearly labelled and must be handed to the teacher with instructions for administering. Inhalers must be clearly labelled with your child’s name and carried by the child at all times. A spare inhaler should be named and given to their teacher.
Essential Equipment!! WELLINGTONS! (Clearly Named) Indoor and outdoor shoes. A suitable sized bag – each child carries their own bag up to the dormitories. Waterproof coat preferably with hood or hat. Gloves and scarf. Waterproof trousers (optional) Layers of clothes. Nightclothes. A few pairs of trousers (not jeans). Once jeans get wet they tend to stay wet! Clearly named water bottle Single duvet cover and pillowcase. Please do not pack any valuable items – jewellery, watches etc will not be allowed so please leave them at home.
Frequently Asked Questions Q. How much money should my child bring? A. No more than £10 (in change preferably) Q. Are mobile phones allowed? A. No. Children must leave their mobile phone at home. Parents will be sent a text daily, providing an update on the visit. In an emergency, parents are asked to contact school who will then get in touch with the centre. Out of school hours, the centre may be contacted in an emergency only. Q. Can my child bring any electrical items? A. No. Nothing electrical is permitted – this includes hairdryers, straighteners, electric reading devices etc. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Priestley or Mr Dean, via the school office.
