  2. SAFER AT HOME In an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19, Mayor Eric Garcetti issued the "Safer at Home" emergency order. Residents of Los Angeles must stay inside their homes and limit non-essential activities beyond what is absolutely necessary through April 19 (subject to change). What if my pet gets ill, can I take them to the veterinarian? ABSOLUTELY! I need to have my laundry done, can I go? YES! I still want to be active; can I go out for a walk, hike or ride my bike? YES! However, fitness and exercise gyms remain shut. I am a professional caregiver, does this order prohibit me from doing my job? NO! I would still like to support our local businesses; can I go to a restaurant for take-out, delivery or drive-thru? ABSOLUTELY, just no dine-in service and don’t forget to tip.   4. SAFER AT HOME Ask yourself, is this essential? My friend’s large wedding is this weekend, can I still go? NO, avoid gatherings with more than 10 people. I need new shoes and a dress; can I still go to the mall or other retail stores? No, non-essential businesses are ordered close. We encourage you to shop online! I was thinking of seeing the new exhibit at the museum, can I still go? All museums (and libraries, too) are closed. Explore great resources online, such as LAPL.org! I need to get a manicure, can I go to the nail salon? No, this also includes hair salons and other grooming locations. What about work? Do not go to work unless providing essential services as defined by the order. Exceptions include emergency personnel, first responders, government employees, food industries, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, exterminators, banks and financial institutions. EVICTION MORATORIUM HELPS RENTERS Mayor Eric Garcetti issued a temporary moratorium on evictions (including apartments, duplexes, condominiums and single-family dwellings) for non-payment of rent due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic During the emergency period, tenants may not be evicted for failure to pay rent due to the financial impacts related to COVID-19 Tenants will have up to six months (with the option to extend it) following the expiration of the local emergency order to repay any back rent due Renters must provide landlord with notice and supporting documentation, e.g. letter from employer or paycheck stubs The moratorium applies to all renters, regardless of immigration status Need help?
