Rationale • Adapt a clear set of standards and practices that are recognized across the industry • Clear, consistent set of standards and practices • 3rd party audits confirm adherence to standards • Staff and tenant pride of ownership
Building Standards Program • Developed by TCH/ Housing Services Corporation • To be certified, a building must adhere to established building management and customer service standards • An third party audit would confirm compliance with the standards. • Staff would be recognized as managing a “certified building” • HSC with assistance from TCH is growing the program into province wide social housing standards
Standards • Cleaning routines and completion verification • Preventive maintenance program • Demand maintenance process • Annual unit inspections • Legislated requirements (fire, asbestos, safety) • Procurement policies adhered to
2012 Priorities • Standards completed in March • HSC delivers training in April and May, invites other non profit providers to build interest • Mock audits, final audits occur in June • Evaluate program in August/September • Brand and launch program in fall, 2012 across province, perhaps at ONPHA • Develop “uncertified” launch for 2013 • Continuous program improvement
