How to get there? By plane Sarajevo Airport is in the suburb of Butmir and is relatively close to the city centre. There is no direct public transportation Some of the other airlines which operate regular (daily) services into Sarajevo By train Train services across the country are slowly improving once again, though speeds and frequencies are still low. Train services available to & from Crotia, Hungary and Serbia. By bus Buses are plentiful in and around Bosnia. Most international buses arrive at the main Sarajevo bus station (autobuska stanica) which is located next to the railway station close to the centre of Sarajevo. Frequent coach services run from Sarajevo to Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro: and in addition to the longer-distance buses further afield to the Republic of Macedonia, Austria and Germany. Located in the very heart of the city, this bazaar is one of Sarajevo’s oldest wards as well as a well- preserved example of oriental architecture in the Balkans. The name Ba šč ar š ija is derived from two Turkish words, “ba ş ” meaning “head” or in this case “main,” and “çar ş ı,” a commercial street. Situated along the northern bank of the Miljacka River, Ba šč ar š ija is an oriental bazaar, a maze of narrow streets with small shops where craftsmen make and sell their products. At one time, each street was dedicated to a different kind of craft—metalwork, jewelry, pottery, and so on. Nowadays, many of the old artisan shops have been converted to souvenir shops and cafes.
