Course Registration Waitlist • Request made by several colleges and students. • Pilot group of 9 Law courses for Fall 2018 (201920) was successful. • Gives students option to add themselves to waitlist if course is full. • Automatic email notification if seat becomes available in course. • Monitoring of waitlist to determine demand for more sections.
Waitlist Process - Initial Registration Student attempts to register for full course. If course has a waitlist they will see how many students are on waitlist and will be able to add themselves to waitlist.

Waitlist Process - Initial Registration Waitlist registration rules • Students can register for one section and waitlist multiple sections of the same course. • Students cannot waitlist a course if registered for a course in same time slot. • Pre and Co-Reqs that apply to Waitlisted courses can be met by either another Waitlisted course or a Registered course. • Pre and Co-Reqs that apply to a registered course cannot be met by a Waitlisted course.

Waitlist Process - Viewing The Waitlist Banner Class Roster (SFASLST) will show Waitlisted students with WL status. Student is not registered for course and cannot receive grade. Waitlist purge process timing to be determined. Waitlist history is retained along with all registration activity in SFASTCA.
Waitlist Notification - Email Highest priority student on waitlist is automatically sent an email notification when a seat becomes available in the course due to a drop or if enrollment cap is raised.
Waitlist Notification • Registrar also receives notification for monitoring purposes. • Registration is not automatic. Student must take action. • Student has 24 hour window to register from the time notification is sent. • Only student with active notification is eligible to register. • Exclusive time window can be overridden in SFAREGS by staff. DO NOT DO THIS .
Waitlist Notification Eligible Student logs in to WebStar and views Detail Schedule.
Waitlist Notification Clicking Add/Drop Classes from Detail Schedule gives the student the option to Register for course or Drop from Waitlist.
Waitlist Notification • If eligible student drops from Waitlist or notification expires, the next student on the list gets notified. • If notification expires without student taking action, the student is dropped from the Waitlist. • Notification Status for specific CRNs can be viewed in Banner (SFIWLNT).
Waitlist – Set Up • Waitlist is now available for all Parts of Term and courses effective Winter 2019 (201930). • Students can be waitlisted until one week prior to end of regular registration period. • To use Waitlist on a CRN, enter a Waitlist Maximum number in SSASECT. • Recommend that Waitlist Maximum not exceed Enrollment Maximum.
Waitlist – Class Search • Class Search in WebStar shows Enrollment and Waitlist counts. • Full course cannot be selected for adding to Worksheet from here. • Student must copy CRN and paste into Add CRN worksheet.
Waitlist – Additional Considerations • Waitlisted courses will not show on Student’s Schedule in Sharklink ( Future Enhancement ). • Course Wizard will show Waitlist Available once course is Full ( In Development ). • Reports for Colleges for comprehensive Waitlist tracking by end of October ( In Development ). • Colleges are responsible for monitoring Waitlists to determine if another section is needed.
