Transportation • Main Street / McIlraith bridge reconstruction (third done) • Mitigate impact of construction • Safe Col By – Clegg crossing completed • Advocate acceleration of footbridge construction • Traffic calming/pedestrian safety • Advocate “complete streets” • Advise design of river pathway (Brantwood / RGD) • Member of Lansdowne transportation committee • Propose improvements (Echo Drive, Col By Drive)

Planning • 16 requests for minor variances reviewed and commented • Support neighbourhood OMB appeals (99 Greenfield; 43 Chestnut; Infill 2) • CDP / Secondary Plan implementation: • Ongoing engagement with Domicile and Regional Group • Neighbourhood charrettes for North of Queensway and Archville to be planned • Extensive participation in the review of Infill 2: • Second phase of “Mature Neighbourhoods” Bylaw, but city wide • Changes made to allowable building heights, rear and side yard setbacks • OMB appeal regarding height of triplexes in R3 neighbourhoods • Now in Monitoring phase for both infill bylaws. • Planning committee is growing: • 2 volunteers each needed for Spenceville and Rideau Gardens • 1 volunteer needed for south of Clegg east of Main • Contact us at planning@ottawaeast.ca, or sfpope@bell.net
Development of Institutional Lands Regional Group’s Greystone Village (Oblates) • "Draft Plan of Subdivision" approved • "Brownfield" clean-up begins in November • 916 dwelling units: singles, towns, condos, rental • Sales centre opened and many units sold • Phase 1 construction start in 2016 • Grande Allée / Forecourt park planned with community • River open space - City: "no," RVCA Trust: considering • Potential of community centre in Deschatelets • SLOE / Planning Committee input incorporated Domicile’s Corners on Main (Sisters) • Sales have been good • Permit and working drawings are underway • Construction is planned to start in March 2016

Parting Thoughts • Volunteers: diligent, creative, collaborative, persistent • Success: persistence + multi-organizational • Most city staff excellent / some not • You can fight city hall (but collaborating is better) • Strive for best-possible – not perfection • Seize opportunities to implement change • Overcome resistance / fear of change • Having an idea is only the start • Importance of community • OOE is on the map
