Annexation Annexation -- Act of inclusion, attachment, or addition of territory to a city or district Zoning – Prior to annexing property, the Zone District and the Plan Land Use Plan must be consistent Council adopted pre-annexation zoning to match the City’s adopted 2004 General Plan

What Would Happen? The City would provide: Law Enforcement Building & Planning Code Enforcement Street Maintenance Parks & Recreation City currently provides Fire and Water Services Wastewater -- Majority of parcels are served by septic systems
Why Annex? Efficiency of local governments The City nearly surrounds this area City provides full services around it The Walton Area, while in the City, still receives law enforcement services from the County Sherriff’s Office Master Tax Exchange Agreement – 82 percent of Police Beat #6 With the completion of the South Yuba City annexation the criteria will be met
LAFCo Sutter County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) is the agency that reviews and considers annexations LAFCo will ultimately determine if the area will be annexed into the City (per the Cortese- Knox-Hertzberg Government Reorganization Act of 2000).
