The 1-Slide Intro to Doctor Who THE SHOW THE DOCTOR is an alien who travels through TIME and SPACE in the TARDIS , a time machine that looks like a blue phone box and is BIGGER ON THE INSIDE . He picks up human COMPANIONS along the way to travel with him. He often saves the earth and other planets from MONSTERS and evil ALIENS . The Doctor can REGENERATE into different bodies to avoid death, and so far has had 12 (numbered) REGENERATIONS . THE HISTORY DOCTOR WHO began in 1963 in BLACK & WHITE on BBC1 , switched to COLOR in 1970, was CANCELLED in 1989, was brought back for a MOVIE in 1996, and then was finally REBOOTED in 2005. The new show maintains (mostly) unbroken CONTINUITY with the classic show.
