  1. ACREW Insights Palma 2018 On Course for Success Review Wednesday 21 st November 2018 Astilleros de Mallorca

  2. An Invite-Only, Captain and First Officer Event. The event ACREW Insights "On Course for Success" was attended by 25 Captains & First Officers, who actively interacted with the seminar facilitators and participated in lively discussions to deepen the topics further. They were treated to luxurious delicacies and healthy drinks from NeKo Yacht Supply throughout the morning. In the first seminar by Crew-Glue, the guests learned about navigating through relationships with crew and contractors to be a successful Captain. Ahoy Club then shared their insight into planning for a successful charter season. The headline seminar was hosted by Diego Colón, a descendant of the iconic Christopher Columbus and the general manager at Astilleros de Mallorca. He shared an insight into the history of oceanic navigation and explored how the advent of the printing press popularised Arabic works on cosmography and the Iberian knowledge of astronomy. By courtesy of Jotun, guests were then treated to a three-course lunch at Gálibos, where the professionals were granted the opportunity to discuss the mornings events one on one. Charlotte Painter from No.12 Fine Wines and Provisions introduced all the exclusive wines and champagnes that were paired with each course.

  3. “It was a very enjoyable experience for me to invite some contemporary captains to travel 500 years back and discover the navigation techniques already known at that time, and realise to what extent it was important for the ancient navigators the interpretation of the nature.” Diego Colón de Carvajal, CEO, Astilleros de Mallorca

  4. “The Captains' ACREW Insights day created an arena for the senior leaders to explore something new together and to discuss their worlds and their challenges. An incredibly worthwhile event and a fabulous location. Managed and coordinated by ACREW, Astilleros and all who contributed. Thank you.” Sara & Christian, Crew-Glue

  5. “Thank you for the great day at Astilleros last Wednesday. The workshop was nicely coordinated with much learned and a good exchange platform set. Lunch was appreciated, as were the wines and snacks. Well done and thank you to all involved. I have been in contact with Ahoy, thanks to the ACREW workshop, and am looking forward to working with them. I look forward to further dealings with ACREW and associates in future.” Kevin Bendall, Captain, MY Four Friends

  6. “The ACREW Insights day was very well organised and presented. The line up was perfectly chosen and the content was well matched to the audience. The advantage of it being focussed at senior crew allowed open discussion and debate to take place amongst the audience, something which may not occur when all levels of crew are present. It also allowed the workshops to be more focussed on specific topics rather than the broader range topics of the full ACREW events. These then fed into the workshops on the following days, giving the senior crew a little more insight. Many thanks and very much looking forward to the next event!” Sam Jeffs, Captain, MY Ascari

  7. “Thank you for presenting another good programme at Astilleros Mallorca. I've been a student of navigation for many years, as a hobby and as a profession, and hold the advancements that were made in Europe the late 1400's in high regard. Over the years other cultures have also made advancements in shipbuilding and navigation, but none brought all this 'advanced technology' together to a commercial success like Western Europe did. Diego Colón is a descendant of one of the most famous of these navigators and the presentation that he gave at the Insights meeting that was hosted by ACREW and Astilleros de Mallorca (where Señor Colón is the Director) was insightful.” Dallen Cranor, Captain, MY Chesella
