Who Are We? • The Canadian Association of Medical Device Reprocessing (CAMDR) was formed in 2014 • The Executive Committee consists of 7 members across the country

What Do We Do? • CAMDR has been established as a new organization comprising members who are interested in elevating the quality and standards of reprocessing nationwide • CAMDR is born of the identified need to serve and support its membership and shared learnings with other health care professionals and industries with whom we interact
What Do We Do? • CAMDR seeks to address numerous issues including: – Patient safety – Infection prevention and control – Technology assessments – Vendor relations – Organizational management

Vision and Mission • Provide members of the association with professional development • Provide members of the association with a forum for information exchange
Vision and Mission • To elevate the quality and standards of reprocessing nationwide • To serve and support the members as well as share learnings with other health care professionals and industry services in response to member identified needs and priorities
Goals and Objectives • Promote optimum standards of practice in Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) to ensure patient safety wherever reprocessing is practiced • Foster and promote co-operation among the membership of the association and openly share information with one another
Goals and Objectives • Encourage, arrange, and promote educational programs for, and on behalf of, the association membership for the advancements of the MDR profession • Collect and disseminate information and current data on new and improved techniques and equipment in MDR • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve communication nationwide
Goals and Objectives • Organize a biennial conference • Carry out research and development conducive in advancing the standards of practice of the medical device reprocessing profession • Promote CAMDR nationally, provincially, and internationally
Biennial Conferences • CAMDR holds biennial conferences and general meetings • The first biennial conference, MDR Leading the Way , was held in Winnipeg, MB, from October 16-19, 2014
Winnipeg 2014 • Delegates from across the country participated in numerous learning annexes, presentations, and vendor exhibitions • The first biennial conference was a great success, creating more interest in CAMDR

Winnipeg 2014 • Delegates attended their choice of 25 different learning annexes. • Topics included: – Infection prevention pathway to safety in endoscopy – Forgotten potential contributors to surgical infections – Cleaning orthopedic instruments – Monitoring steam sterilization – CSA CMDRT certification – Reuse of SUMD’s – And others
Winnipeg 2014 • 14 concurrent sessions from excellent presenters • Nationally and internationally recognized speakers – Dr. Michelle Alfa – Dr. Gerry McDonnell – Charles Hughes – Stephan Kovach – Rick Bauer – And others
Winnipeg 2014 • Concurrent session topics included: – Reprocessing complex instruments – Banning biofilm – Spaulding classification , disinfection and sterilization (Ebola) – Steam sterilization and new CSA Standards – Personnel Certification – Engagement in the workplace – And many other excellent presentations
Winnipeg 2014 • 45 vendors displayed their products and services at the exhibit hall. • Feedback was very positive from vendors and delegates alike.
