A genuine prophet of God will get it right every time! Deuteronomy 18:22 & Jeremiah 28:9, NLT If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message…Only when his predictions come true can we know that he is really from the Lord. 1

  3. 6/18/2018 Zechariah’s Prophecy Fulfilled On a road blanketed with palm branches, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Matthew 21:1-3, 6-8, 10, NIV As they approached Jerusalem…Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there… Untie [it] and bring [it] to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send [it] right away.” The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey… and placed their cloaks on [it] for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road…When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred… Zechariah’s Prophecy When God arranges for the death of his shepherd, those who follow that shepherd will flee in every direction. Zechariah 13:7, NIV “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the Lord Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered…” Zechariah’s Prophecy Fulfilled When “the Good Shepherd” was apprehended, his disciples ran away. Matthew 26:31-32, 47, 50, 56, NIV Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: “I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered’…Judas, one of the twelve arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs…the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him…Then all the disciples deserted him and fled. 3

  4. 6/18/2018 Zechariah’s Prophecy When the people pay their Shepherd what they think he is worth, this insulting payoff is rejected. Zechariah 11:12-13, NIV I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”–the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord. Zechariah’s Prophecy Fulfilled Jesus was betrayed for the exact same price, and the same thing happened to this “blood money!” Matthew 27:3-7, NIV When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.” “What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.” So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. Zechariah’s Prophecy When God and his Messiah are pierced, people will mourn. Zechariah 12:10, NIV “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child…” 4

  5. 6/18/2018 Zechariah’s Prophecy Fulfilled Jesus was pierced on the cross. John 19:33-34, 36-37, NIV But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water…These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,” and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.” Zechariah’s Prophecy Fulfilled Sooner or later, people will “look on” the “pierced” one, and “mourn”–either in repentance, or in anticipation of judgment. Revelation 1:7, NIV Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. Prophets = Perfect Predictors! Fulfilled prophecy is just one of several solid reasons why you can trust the Bible! The mathematical probability of eight specific prophecies coming true in one person are 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000! 5
