  5. Monday - May 18, 2020 Read for 20 minutes and retell the story to someone. Lexia - 15 minutes a day * Reading - Read US Postal Service with Mrs. Salazar and answer the questions. Math - Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbtmucV-U2c Ask your family to help you by giving some change and having you sort it and count it. Have them check how you did! Writing - This week in math is all about counting coins! Write a realistic fiction story about finding some money and what you will do with it...spend it? Save it? Bury it in the backyard? Don’t forget to include lots of details and creative descriptions! Keep this piece to work on tomorrow! Science/SS - This week is about U.S. National Parks and Iowa’s State Parks. Please watch the video, then write in this form which national parks you would like to visit and why. Guidance -

  6. Tuesday - May 19, 2020 Read for 20 minutes and retell the story to someone. Lexia - 15 minutes a day Reading - Log into iReady through the Clever page (link). Click on “Reading” and complete “Next Lesson” under My Path. Math - Coin riddles . Read the riddles and use real coins to solve them. . Writing - Get out your “found money” piece from yesterday. Today is all about revising your draft Revising is where you make changes in your story to make it better. Check out this video here to help you get started. . Science/SS- Look at this picture , discuss with a family member or friend how this picture makes you feel. This is a real picture taken in 1940 in Dubuque Iowa. How do we make sure the rivers near us do not look like this?

  7. Wednesday - May 20, 2020 Read for 20 minutes and retell the story to someone. Lexia - 15 minutes a day Reading - Today’s focus is fluency . Pick a page or a couple pages to read from a book. Practice reading your passage or pages to yourself, a stuffed animal, or someone at your house. When you feel you are fluent (nice and smooth) record it for us to hear. Watch Mrs. Donner’s video on Flipgrid. Push the green + to get started. *Math- Complete the money worksheet Writing - Nope, still not done with your “found money” story! Today we will edit - where you find and fix spelling, punctuation and capitalization errors, as well as anything else that makes it hard for your audience to read your story. Need help? Check out this video here! Don’t forget to share your story with someone! * Science/SS - T oday you will see a letter written in 1916 about creating Iowa’s parks and answer 3 questions. Today, write a “how-to” piece where you teach your audience how to play tag. Think about your audience...is it another 2nd grader who has played lots of games, or an alien from Mars who doesn’t even know what a game is? Whoever it is, write your piece based on what your audience needs/wants to know. This video can help! Science/SS - T oday’s link will take you to Iowa DNR site listing all the state parks in Iowa you can explore over the summer months. Just for fun here is a word search with a secret message from Iowa’s DNR. Music -

  11. Enrichment- Reading and Math This week’s enrichment is focused on some issues that lots of TAG kids deal with: perfectionism and growth mindset. Perfectionism means that you feel like you have to be perfect at everything yoy do. Growth mindset means you realize that there is ALWAYS room for growth.
