Teachers say… • We would love to see more Literacy Partners at Berkman! If there is any way to recruit more volunteers, that would be great! ( Berkman ) I'd like to have a cozy reading spot dedicated to reading partners' time ( Double File ) • • I heard them sometimes and was so impressed with their teaching skills . I was so grateful for their support. My student had a lot of circumstances in first grade that prevented him from the same opportunities to learn . This year he's in a stable situation and has had other problems clear up and has just blossomed!( Live Oak ) • Thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to read with our kiddos. They love it and we love you! ( Old Town ) The reading connection partners are wonderful, and truly enjoy what they do. I can tell • that they join us because they truly want to make a difference for our children . Great partnership to have!( Spicewood )
Literacy Partners tell us… • It has been great working with my two students; we all look forward to our time on Fridays. Their teachers were good about letting me know if the student was absent, and whenever we had no school on Friday, we were usually able to find another time that worked. I love seeing them build confidence and getting to know their sweet personalities. Will definitely volunteer again next year! ( Joe Lee Johnson ) • Thank you for giving students like us the opportunity to work with these young kids, and have a chance to help improve their reading skills . Working with Literacy Partners has been very enlightening for me. ( Pond Springs McNeil Student LP ) • I really enjoyed the experience. I think my students grew in their literacy this year. I think the one-on-one attention was really valued by one of my students and that made the whole experience very special. ( Callison )
School Coordinators and Principals share… Three of our volunteers returned from the previous year and are committed to their • kids . One new volunteer has been amazing and I expect will probably return. The volunteer really needs to believe that they are making a difference and are valued. They need to feel appreciated. ( Gattis ) We appreciate the investment in our learning community demonstrated by our Lit • Partners! The students enjoyed meeting with their partner along with the growth made in their reading skills ! ( Forest North ) • More literacy partners. ( Berkman Principal )
