  3. Design gn pr prototype totype of f the exper periments iments of en f energy gy conser ervation ation using g the concept ept of f magn gneti etic c and nd solar ar ene nergy gy Component Function Handy box To store all the component inside the box, except for the solar panel was screwed on the top of the box. Solar panel The only component placed outside the box, to collect sunlight and convert it into electrical energy (potential energy). The electrical energy was stored inside a battery for future used. Perspex protection box To cover the rotating disks to protect the users. The rotating disks may cause hazard if RPM too fast. 3D printed disks The disks are fixed numbers of small magnet holes and big magnet holes. The angles of each holes are precise. Motors 2 motors are used in the system. One motor acts as a driver to drive the driver disk while the other one acts like a generator to convert into electricity. Spare part box To store extra magnets for future experiments use. Circuit box To keep all cables and electrical components which consist of toggle switch, rocker switch, variable resistor and digital voltmeter on top of the box. Toggle switch To select either for the solar panel to charge the battery OR the battery operates the motor. Rocker switch To select either Turn ON or Turn OFF the output. Digital volt meter To display the output voltage of generator. Analog amp meter To display the output current of generator. Battery To store the solar panel electrical energy for future use. Output USB female port To plug-in another male USB port for the purpose of charging electronic devices.

  4. Abs bstract ct In this experimental study, magnetic-drive (magnetic energy transmission) is  used as a power transmission , instead of belt or chain drives. Theoretically, magnetic energy provides no friction when it is used to  convert into another form of energy. To test out the efficiency of this power transmission method, DC motor  generator is used. The recorded results are based on the output of DC motor generator.  Different number of permanent magnets are used to test out the drive and  driven disks. It was later concluded that the most stable output power transmission of this  magnetic-drive is by using 9 small magnets in both drive and driven disks. Both disks’ magnets are built to repulse each other at 90 degrees. 

  5. Comparisons??? Advantages Disadvantages No contact between drive and Driven disk speed is hard to driven disks control Less friction The speed of driven disk requires very less torque for starting Flexibility in changing number Distance between two magnets of magnets used are limited Strength of magnets used can Must work with a flat basement affect efficiency No risk of loose linkages (chain or belt)

  6. What can be learned???  To demonstrate how magnets can drive power 1 transmission to students in order to enhance their learning;  To show series of energy conversions without 2 man-work; and  Able to generate electrical energy using eco- 3 potential energy.

  7. What’s NEXT??? 1 Replace power transmission method chain drive to magnetic- drive to chain drive in solar panel bike 2 Scale-up the magnetic-drive prototype by increasing the layer of disk in order to increase the magnetic field strength

  8. Video Demonstration (Operational)

  9. Video Demonstration (Procedural)
