9/28/2017 Environmental Considerations Development of Identity Campus Identity and Living Arrangements Three main environmental risk factors First weeks of fall term is a very high risk time for new students Lack of responsible adult supervision Some evidence that up through 5 th week is Facilitative social environment Readily accessible alcohol/drugs critical for student identity development Student success predictors: Off campus living and social events… - Engagement - Lower AOD involvement ripe with these factors - On-campus living have fewer points for intervention feeds identity/engagement differences So bring them back to campus 3

Various activities on campus Health Promotion may conflict. Support from the highest administration Keeping an eye on costs levels Event planning teams from various Priority to change the campus culture departments. All involve students. 5
