Year 5 London Trip 6 th & 7 th November 2019
• 3 school adults (plus London guide) • Coach stays with (or near) the group at all times • Risk assessments completed • Know the routes, know the hotel • Best behaviour of children expected at all times – expectations shared at each stage • Texts – have we got the right numbers? • Medicines – must be labelled with instructions • Bands worn
Arrive at School at 7.15am for 7.30pm depart. Here we go! • Take travel sickness tablets! • Medication given to Mrs Lee. • Uniforms and sturdy shoes. • Warm coat/gloves/hat • Bag for the coach: disposable packed lunch; water for the coach; sweets for the theatre; puzzles, reading material for the journey. • Bag for the hotel: toiletries; pyjamas and change of underwear • What not to bring
Approximately 11.45am - Arrive at Warner Bros Studios – Harry Potter Tour • Lunch to be eaten on arrival and toilet trip • All packaging must be disposable and sensible approach to sweets and drinks! • 12.00pm – Tour of Studios • Depart 3.30pm for London
On arrival in London – Zizzi Restaurant for evening meal, approximately 5:00pm Tasty! • Buffet evening meal. • Cost £5 • Meal time etiquettes
Watch ‘Wicked, The Musical’ at the Apollo Theatre, 7.30pm. Awesome! • Sweets for performance. • Talk about theatres • Talk about the Wizard of Oz
Arrive at Premier Inn, Heathrow approximately 11:15pm. Straight to bed! • Children 2/3 to a room. • Teachers rooms next to children’s. • Remote control removed! • Meds, beds. • Children must keep their • things organised.
Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant Yum! • 7:30 rise • 8am buffet breakfast – talk to children about how it works. • 9am depart.
Arrive at Parliament Square for ‘Seats of Power’ tour. • Arrive in London and meet our guide. • Hi-viz jackets on!
Tour of The Houses of Parliament. Ultimate power. • 10.45am arrive/ security checks. • 11.30 Tour begins.
Pass Downing Street. Best behaviour! • Walk along Whitehall, looking at Cenotaph, monuments, Government offices and Downing Street. • Perfect lines and perfect listening.
Walk through Horse Guards Parade. • 1.30pm - Mounted Guards/ regiments. • Pomp and ceremony.
Walk through St James’ Park. Watch out for the pelicans! • Toilet trip. • Clarence House • The Mall
Stop at Buckingham Palace ‘ How many rooms? ’ • Queen’s official residence. • Role of the Monarch. • Relationship to Government.
Depart London approximately 3.30pm. Stop on journey home for something to eat. Arrive home in Latchford, approximately 9pm. • School will text parents with ETA. • Any questions?
