Work, Earn and Learn with an Apprenticeship at Uxbridge College
What is an apprenticeship? A fantastic way to gain a qualification and earn a wage at the same time Apprentices should be 16 years or over and be working for at least 30 hours per week You get a minimum weekly wage of £100 per week – but some employers may pay more You are based in your own workplace and have additional training through Uxbridge College.
What qualification do I get as part of my apprenticeship? There are 4 parts to an apprenticeship: A knowledge based qualification normally called a Technical Certificate A competency based qualification – NVQ Key skills Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
How is the apprenticeship assessed? All apprentices have an assessor that visits you at work every month to review what you are doing and to ensure you are happy in your work place Your assessor is a specialist in the area you are working in and will support you throughout the duration of your course and help you with your NVQ Some apprentices come into College (usually for one day per week) and we have an excellent team of teachers who deliver training on campus.

An apprenticeship is an excellent way to gain your qualifications plus your existing skills and knowledge are recognised It’s an opportunity to build up work experience and gain knowledge of the work environment It is a great way to start your career and can lead to many paths and opportunities in various roles across your chosen sector You can learn at your own pace and get support when you need it It’s a chance to experience new and different challenges and gain new skills and knowledge.
Do I need to have a job already? If you have an employer that’s willing to take you on that’s fantastic.
