  4. Arboretum Greenhouse Project Construction  The greenhouse was competitively bid and awarded to Clear Span Fabric Structures (Farm Tech).  The greenhouse was installed by a sub- contractor, Bison Construction, as part of the purchase price for the greenhouse. 4

  5. Arboretum Greenhouse Project Construction  The site work was performed by Gradex Construction.  The site work design was performed by Grey & Associates  Structural design by Tobey-Wade Consulting.  The City of Reno of permitted the project. 5

  6. Arboretum Greenhouse Project Construction  The greenhouse was originally scheduled to be completed in February of 2017.  Due to unprecedented weather conditions completion was delayed until July 2017. 6

  8. Arboretum Greenhouse 2002 Implementation Plan  Greenhouse is located off Sierra Street.  The Greenhouse is part of the 2002 Rancho San Rafael Regional Park Implementation Plan. 8

  10. Arboretum Greenhouse Purpose  Increase the plant diversity and protect the collection.  Replace plants that have been damaged or have died.  Serve the May Arboretum and Washoe County regional parks.  May Arboretum Society annual plant sale. 10

  11. Arboretum Greenhouse Purpose  Collect native plants and seeds.  Propagate plants for Washoe County’s revegetation or reclamation projects.  Grow plants for seasonal displays in the Arboretum and parks. 11

  12. Arboretum Greenhouse Future Plans and Goals  Start a plant conservation program within Washoe County.  Collect and propagate Northern Nevada’s, rare, classified, threatened or endangered plant species. 12

  13. Arboretum Greenhouse Future Plans and Goals  Grow and cultivate these species ex-situ in the gardens to serve as seed bank and for educational purposes.  Start a seed exchange program.  Move towards a higher level of accreditation and national ranking. 13

  14. Arboretum Greenhouse Future Plans and Goals  Engage other governmental and educational institutions regionally as well as nationally and assist with native plant conservation and preservation programs and organizations. 14

  16. Arboretum Greenhouse Current Use  Currently the greenhouse is used to grow shade plants for Kristen’s Shade Garden upgrade.  The renovation was funded by a generous donation from the May Arboretum Society ($20,000.00). 16

  17. Arboretum Greenhouse Current Use  Thanks to our dedicated May Arboretum Society and Arboretum volunteers, over 300 plants were re-potted for the Kristen’s project. Smaller plants are replanted in larger containers to mature for 3 to 5 weeks before planting them in the landscape. 17

  19. Arboretum Greenhouse Staffing  Currently the horticulturist is managing the greenhouse.  Staff received training on LINK-4. control system, a greenhouse high quality, high tech agricultural environmental control system.  Manufactured to control greenhouse environments. 19
