YOUR CHILD’S FORM TUTOR
The tutor’s role… Y our child’s form tutor: ▲ will become one of the most important people in your child’s College life; ▲ w ill be responsible for overseeing your child’s progress and development : socially, emotionally and academically; ▲will encourage your child’s involvement in College life, commitment to learning and high standards of work, behaviour and attendance.
Registration and Tutorial ▲ Students must be in their form room by 8.25am every morning. ▲ Tutor Time begins at 8.30am. ▲ Tutor Time is about much more than just taking the register!
Someone to talk to… ▲Your child’s tutor is the first person that they should talk to if they have any concerns or worries. ▲If they can’t solve the problem, they will know the right person to ask for help.
Working together… ▲ Working together is the key to your child’s success and happiness at The Spires College ▲ Communication is easy and encouraged.

▲Your child’s planner will become an important part of their daily routine. ▲Your child’s planner provides an important link between home and College. ▲ You will be asked to sign your child's planner every week . Any notes from your child's teachers or tutor will be made in their planner.

Keeping in touch… ▲ At The Spires College, we believe that involving parents and carers in their children’s learning and progress is really important. ▲ We will keep you informed about your child’s learning and progress.
Keeping in touch… ▲ Progress Reports give you a ‘snapshot’ of your child’s progress in each subject. You will receive a progress report three times a year. ▲ Tutor Evening in the Autumn Term is an opportunity for you talk to your child’s tutor about how they are settling in and to discuss their progress is across the curriculum
Keeping in touch… ▲ Parents’ Evening is your opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and talk about their learning and progress in each. ▲ A written tutor report at the end of the academic year will provide you with detailed information about your child’s successes and what they need to work on next.

Be ready to learn Our Expectations ▲ We expect children to be on time for College every day. ▲ Students receive a 30 minute detention if they arrive late to College. ▲ We expect children to be organised and prepared for learning.

Attendance Our Expectations ▲ Our minimum attendance target for each student is 96%
Behaviour for Learning Our Expectations REWARDS ▲ Stickers : teachers issue subject specific stickers as a reward. These are kept in students ’ planners. ▲ Certificates : your child’s tutor will keep a tally of the rewards issued and certificates of achievement are awarded when goals are achieved. ▲ Vouchers : students will also have the chance to win vouchers. These will be presented throughout the year in celebration assemblies. ▲ Reward trips : both within subjects and within the year group ▲ Opportunities to become ambassadors within the form and also the wider College community.
Behaviour for Learning Our Expectations SANCTIONS ▲ If a student receives an L1 in a lesson the teacher will speak with them about their behaviour. ▲ If a student receives an L2 in a lesson they will receive a lunch time detention. Parents and carers will be notified by telephone of this.
Mobile Phones & Devices Our Expectations ▲ These items not are permitted in college. ▲ If they are seen or heard in school, they will be confiscated by a member of staff. ▲ They will be held in reception until the confiscation period has ended.
Uniform Our Expectations ▲ Jewellery Students are permitted to wear a maximum of one small, discreet stud in each ear and one finger ring, all of which must be removed for practical and PE lessons. No other items of jewellery, including facial piercing jewellery or retainers, are permitted. ▲ Hair Extreme fashion hair styles and colours are not allowed. Hair must be natural colours only. ▲ Students are NOT permitted to wear make-up or nail polish . ▲ Shoes Shoes must be black, ‘ polishable ’ and smart. Trainers/canvas shoes are not permitted.
