SAC Organizational Structure • Regular SAC member meetings (7-8 per year) • Officers Meetings • Active Sub-Committees that meet over the summer – 2018/2019 Sub-Committees • SAC Member and Officer Role Descriptions/Responsibilities • SAC Website development
2018-2019 SAC Goals 1) Education and outreach to older adults and their advocates. 2) Educate older adults by providing training with partner organizations. 3) Improve public awareness about the Senior Advisory Council.
2018-2019 SAC Goals Each of the 3 SAC Goals for 2018-2019 has: • A specific focus/emphasis • Strategies to help/guide SAC members to achieve it • Actions suggested (and created) by SAC members to implement the strategies
Goal 1: Education and Outreach Emphasis – Health Care and Healthy Life Styles Strategies that achieved outreach: • Presentations at SAC monthly meetings by experts • SAC member visits to their Senior Centers to share information and materials • Distribution of relevant materials to Senior Centers, on the SAC website, and at community sites and activities
Goal 2: Training/Collaboration with Partner Organizations Emphasis – Continued participation/interaction with AAA1-B and NACo Strategies that achieved collaboration: • SAC membership promoted, volunteered and attended AAA 1-B and NACo events and activities
Goal 3: Improve Public Awareness of the Senior Advisory Council Emphasis – Develop team presentations for senior centers and leaders in Oakland County Strategies: • Coordinated Senior Center visits by SAC members • Regular updates of Commissioners • Held SAC meetings at venues around the county • Presented at National Council on Aging’s national conference in Washington D.C. • Continued development of SAC website
Major Accomplishments of the Senior Advisory Council 2018-2019 • Creation and adoption of job descriptions for SAC members and officers. • SAC members were part of the Senior Services Advisory Team of West Bloomfield, who are establishing a new Senior Center.
