  13. Package of training and support for Secondary Schools

  14. Evidence of Need Consultations with parents, young people and staff have identified key areas of need in this area including: • more universal & targeted staff training • better signposting to support and resources available • more materials for use with young people • support & training opportunities for parents and carers

  15. Support for Staff • Universal Staff Training Brains & Behaviour Series which covers • 1. The Connected Brain • 2. The Amazing Teenage Brain • 3. The Brain Under Stress • Targeted Staff Training • Mental Health First Aid (looks at specific mental health issues and how to deal with them - available 2014) • Confident Staff, Confident Children (covers attachment, resilience, empathy, mindset, looking after our own wellbeing)

Cool, Calm & Connected - Peer Education/PSE Resource: • Mental health & emotional well-being – what is it and why it matters; • The brain - how it develops and what happens in the teenage brain; • The important role of relationships for our well-being; • How we build connections with others and develop empathy; • Dealing with stress - what helps us cope when things get tough; • How our beliefs influence how we feel and behave; • How changing the way we think can improve our lives. 2. Getting the Lowdown – PSE/group work resource : Self Harm, Eating Disorders, Depression, Stress & Anxiety, Loss & Bereavement, Bullying 3. Seasons For Growth – loss/bereavement, transition programme: 8 week small group educational programme supporting children and young people to cope with loss, change and grief.
