Overview of the Grant The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL) awarded the grant for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) State Partnership Program State Funding Opportunity to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Center for Distance Health (CDH), in June 2018. The grant was received with the support of the Arkansas Department of Health Trauma System, the UAMS Center for Distance Health, and the Arkansas Trauma Rehabilitation program.   5. Overview of the Grant The grant was awarded in the amount of $150,000 per year for three years. The grant will improve upon state TBI infrastructure through a mentorship program. Activities related to the grant will maximize independence, well being, and health of persons with TBI, their caregivers, families, and providers. Kim Lamb 10:40 – 10:45

Project Goals Our goal is to orchestrate the expansion and enhancement of Arkansas TBI infrastructure and resources to clinically and educationally benefit TBI survivors, families, caregivers, and providers across the state. • Form an Advisory Board • Create a waiver or trust fund • Provide support through clinical and educational resources Kim Lamb 10:45 – 10:50

Grant Objectives Improve communication and coordination of TBI clinical and educational • services by forging statewide partnerships and national mentorships Enhance Arkansas’ TBI person-centered resources by establishing a statewide • advisory board and state plan while continually maintaining the existing state registry Increase awareness of, access to, and availability of person-centered clinical • and educational services for TBI survivors, caregivers/families, and providers in Arkansas Kim Lamb 10:50 – 11:00

Grant Objectives Partner with the newly-established Arkansas Trauma Rehabilitation Program • and the continuation of existing activities (i.e. support groups, TBI registry, TRIUMPH Call Center, Annual Survivor Day, TBI Awareness Walk, and Inpatient Outreach) Incorporate telemedicine, mobile health, and/or other technologies when • possible Kim Lamb 10:50 – 11:00

Role of the Advisory Board Advisory Board members contribute unique perspectives and experiences that can be used to enhance person-centered clinical and educational resources and infrastructure for individuals with TBI, their families, and their support systems. Advisory Board feedback and input will be used to meet grant objectives. A report of grant activities will be submitted to ACL on a quarterly basis. Kim Lamb 11:15 – 11:20

Role of the Advisory Board • Help to create a structure for statewide cross-systems collaboration, which is essential for system changes to work • Help to develop the state plan by providing input on the needs of individuals with TBI, their families, and their support systems • Help to develop goals that address known gaps in services for people with TBI • Provide input on objectives and activities for grantees’ funded projects Kim Lamb 11:15 – 11:20
