Vision Statement • The college’s vision statement is: Transforming Lives Through Education Students at Glasgow Kelvin College are part of the College community. We have the staff and the resources to make an impact on our students lives via Students’ Association • Advice, Guidance and Learner Support • Modern Infrastructure • New Technological Advances • Lecturing & Support Staff •
Student Opportunities (Internal/External): • Student involvement in college events (Graduation, Board of Management Dinner, UKIERI Project) • Cross departmental working, which brings students into the wider working life of the college,(Tea@GKC, GKC Speaking Club, GKC Fashion show) • Project work (Glasgow Kelvin Velocity Cycling Hub, Kit Car)
White Ribbon Campaign • White Ribbon Scotland campaigns to help eliminate Violence Against Women. The majority of men in Scotland are not violent towards women. • Students and staff at Glasgow Kelvin College were delighted to celebrate being awarded White Ribbon status which made us the first white ribbon college in Scotland. • Our target was to reach 500 signed pledges and we got over 800 pledges signed. • “ I pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women in all its forms”.
What Our Students Want • Increased Resources and Educational Visits • Better and safer links to and from college (Active Travel, Inclusive Transport, NUS Campaigns) • More practical course work • Increased variety of courses in specific areas (Creative Industries)
