Case Study

Logistics • Rooms. Function rooms & Foyers are available for hacking.Other rooms are off limits for GovHack. • Entrance and exit. Unless there is an emergency, for security please only enter and exit through the western entrance front door. • In an emergency. Evacuate to the grass area in the western area – follow a member of the Local Event Team to the evacuation point if needed.
Logistics • Bathrooms and toilets. These are located on the east side of the foyer. Please follow signs. • Badges. Please ensure that you always wear your badge while at GovHack. This help us identify people who should (and shouldn’t) be here. • Wi-Fi access. The network is WCCEvent and there is no password required. • Spillages or damage. If there are any spillages or damage then please let a member of the Local Event Team know immediately.
Logistics • Garbage. Please clean up after yourself and use the garbage bins. If they are full, let us know and we’ll empty them. • Smoking. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the building. • Alcohol. This is an alcohol free event. • Minors / Youth Hackers. Must always be accompanied by their adult supervisor while at the event.
Logistics • Security. We will do our best to ensure the security of the event, but GovHack and Wyndham do not bear any responsibility for your personal belongings at the event. You can leave items here overnight but at your own risk.
Event Times Friday 28 July 6:00pm – 10:00pm Saturday 29 July 8:00am – 8:00pm Sunday 30 July 8:00am – 6:30pm • The doors will be locked after hours. If you get stuck inside or outside call the help number on the signs to reach the Local Event Team. Please DO NOT chock the doors open.
Grub Friday 28 July Dinner 7:00pm Breakfast 8:00am Saturday 29 July Lunch 1:00pm Dinner 6:30pm Breakfast 8:00am Sunday 30 July Lunch 12:30pm • All food and drinks will be located at the back of the hacking space. • There will also be snacks and drinks available throughout the day.
Grub • Coffee. Barista coffee will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am – 11:00am and 2:00pm – 4:00pm in the Tuckshop. Note, you are entitled to three free coffees per day and you must have your badge. Tuckshop will be selling coffee, etc. if you would like more. • Juice and water. Will be available throughout the weekend in the catering area in the foyer.
Code of Conduct • Read our code of conduct at govhack.org/competition, but here’s the gist: • Our number one priority during GovHack is ensuring a safe and harassment- free environment. • GovHack should be an awesome experience for everyone. Be nice and play fair. • If you feel uncomfortable, or believe there has been inappropriate conduct, then please let any member of the Local Event Team know immediately.

Saturday Key Times 12 noon ● All competitor must have registered on hackerspace 5 pm ● Complete your team project page and award category nominations ● Record your team members on your project page, and the URL to your proof of concept repository ● No new projects can be created after this time. Project pages may still be edited
Sunday Key Times 4 pm ● Finalise video and add link to your project page. Note that video upload may take some time. Start as early as possible to avoid the congestion. 5 pm ● Final deadline for competition entry. Check that you’ve included your team page, data story description and details of datasets, project outcomes (demos, code, graphics etc), and video upload link
Judging Criteria Relevance to the award category description Specific prize eligibility criteria detailed Civic value Visual design and usability Degree to which open data has been used Technical or creative skills demonstrated
Please, don’t go overboard • By all means enter multiple award categories • Please think carefully about the categories you enter. Make sure they’re genuinely relevant to your hack - sorting through lots of irrelevant entries makes our judges’ jobs harder, and certainly doesn’t improve your chances
