Our Year 9 plan Maintain their excellent effort levels and motivation Pursue greater academic progress. Work together to support students through their options choices. Establish effective routines in preparation for the step up to GCSEs.
GCSE Options & Parents Evenings The Year 9 options process begins week beginning 21 st November and runs through to 15 th of February. Students’ careers fair in November. Y9 Options Assembly- 10 Dec (Monday) Guided PSHCE sessions with tutors. Y9 Parents options briefing -11 Dec (Tuesday) Parents/Options Evening on 7 th February Options form live - 08 Feb (Friday) Options form deadline - 15 Feb (Friday)
Key dates Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze) – Parents information evening – Thursday 20 th September at 6pm in school hall. Friday 5th October- INSET Day school closed to students Friday 19th October - Term finishes for whole school at 3.35pm Activities day 19 th October 20th October to 28th October (inclusive) - October Half Term French Trip: 18 th – 22 nd October Battlefields Trip 1: 22 nd – 23 rd of November Trips went live last week. See Battlefields Trip 2: 31 st – 1 st of February latest parental London Art Galleries: 22 nd January bulletin. Support with homework – an hour a night. Behaviour: reinforce school rules and praise Communication – academic & pastoral support. Please make use of parental bulletin. Challenges ahead… aged14+ Pushing the boundaries : Uniform (trainers, skirt length, ear piercing, make-up) Health – Good night’s sleep – ideally 8 to 10 hours sleep recommended. Social media and online gaming: Put yourself in control Make use of the parental controls on your home broadband and any internet- enabled devices, including your child’s mobile phone. Agree boundaries Have a family agreement and model the behaviour you desire. Keep talking!
