Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam (UDWPE) (UDWPE) Must be attempted prior to earning 75 units Pass before enrolling in 400-level major courses Typically a registration hold is placed if not attempted before November 2020. Repeat Policy Repeat Policy Grade Forgiveness: Higher grade replaces lower grade in GPA calculation May repeat if earned a “C-” or lower grade Eligible to repeat a maximum of 16 units for grade forgiveness (after 16 units grades are averaged) Only applies to courses initially taken and then repeated at CSUN Must pass major courses within two enrollment attempts Special permission is required to attempt a class for the 3 rd time and is not always permitted. If not approved, then the student must change their major. 17
