When will new association be rebranded? From Jan 1 st 2017, SCAA and SCAE will act as one, under the name Association for Specialty Coffee (ASC). There will be a rebrand launched in January 2017. Legacy branded items will persist and be brought under the new ASC branded umbrella throughout 2017.

When will new association be rebranded? From Jan 1 st 2017, SCAA and SCAE will act as one, under the name Association for Specialty Coffee (ASC). There will be a rebrand launched in January 2017. Legacy branded items will persist and be brought under the new ASC branded umbrella throughout 2017.
When and how will the education system going change? The new curricula released at AST Live Asia Nov 2016 will be unchanged for the foreseeable future. SCAE and SCAA will work to have one system by the end of 2017 with seamless change from current AST business model and education structure.
Who makes the decisions? The SCAE Education Committee, led by Ludovic Maillard will disband and the core of its members will be joined by SCAA Education Committee members to form the new ASC Education Advisory Board. They will be responsible for the amalgamation of SCAA Pathways programme with the SCAE CDS programme.
Will costs go up? There are no plans to change the current economic model. We commit to no change for existing membership categories. As we move forward to form new membership categories, aligned education costs will be calculated accordingly.
How will certified SCAA labs fit in? From Jan 1 st 2017, there will be a reference to certified training centres for all CDS training and certification. This will be a voluntary option to certify training centres for Barista/ Brewing or Roasting or Sensory/ Green. The sensory/ green labs will be aligned with SCAA lab protocols. Certified training centres are likely to be compulsory by Jan 2020.
How will it affect the Korean chapter? The Korean chapter will, along with other chapters, persist under the same rules and regulations until further notice. ASC will form new chapters under the ASC umbrella and transition all SCAE chapters into ASC chapters. The SCAE Korea chapter will be informed in time about the rebranding to the ASC Korea chapter. Until then it can operates as per current SCAE procedures.
