GOAL • The center will through teaching, research, networking and counseling assist students to start up or further develop knowledge-based ideas • Promoting knowledge on entrepreneurship at the UiS • S upport staff faculty members and coach on entrepreneurship and start-up processes • Connect potential startups with existing networks and resources (people, institutions, proj ects etc.) • Marketing opportunities for entrepreneurship towards students and staff at the UiS 2

FORNY StudENT 2016 – pilot funding WHY?  The primary obj ective of the FORNY S tudENT funding scheme is to increase the number of entrepreneurs and new successful companies based on ideas produced by students at Norwegian universities and university colleges. WHO?  FORNY S tudENT funding is targeted towards master’ s students in the final phase (graduates in 2016) of their studies and candidates that have recently completed (summer of 2015) their master’ s degree at universities and university colleges.

FORNY StudENT 2016 – pilot funding The candidates must:  have a knowledge-based idea with commercial potential;  have entrepreneurial skills and/ or education in entrepreneurship;  seek scientific and commercial assistance to realize their idea;  want to work on realizing their idea as a full-time proj ect once they have completed their master’ s degree.

  10. FORNY StudENT 2016 – The role of the university  Applications for FORNY S tudENT funding must be submitted by a university or university college on behalf of a student/ group of students. Institutions may submit multiple applications on behalf of multiple students/ groups of students.  In the case of conditional allocation of funding, it is a requirement that responsibility for the proj ect is to be transferred to a company established by the student/ group of students.

FORNY StudENT 2016 – Deadlines  For the first funding round in 2016, grant applications must be submitted by the latest Wednesday, 18 May, 23:59 CES T for response before summer.  For the second funding round in 2016, grant applications must be submitted by the latest Monday, 3 October, 23:59 CES T for response before the new year.

  12. FORNY StudENT 2016 – HOW TO APPLY  All universities and university colleges participating under the scheme are required to be part of an ecosystem with competencies in entrepreneurship and commercialisation (Technology Transfer Office [TTO], research park, incubator, cluster, etc.) that the proj ects can be connected to via their proj ect managers.  Contact: Centre for Entrepreneurship Egil C.
