U PTOWN W ATERLOO S TREETSCAPE C ONSTRUCTION King Street from ION Tracks south of Erb Street to Elgin Street CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS UPDATE J ULY 6, 2017

Purpose of the Meeting 1. Provide an update on the progress of the King Street Improvement Project; 2. Learn more about the next stages of construction and the project schedule; 3. Review how vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be affected during construction; 4. Ask questions of staff from the City, Region and the Contractor, Clearway Construction Inc; and 5. Provide any comments you may have at this time (eg. special needs, scheduled deliveries, etc).

PROJECT SCHEDULE: SEQUENCING OF WORK • Replacement of deep underground pipes • Installation of shallower utilities • Replacement of the road • Replacement of sidewalks • Streetlights and landscape work *Note: Accesses to businesses to be maintained throughout each aspect of the work, existing sidewalks to be maintained as long as reasonably possible (similar approach as ION work).

PROJECT SCHEDULE: WHERE ARE WE NOW • BIA Membership Meeting – April 13 • King Street construction commenced on April 26 (initially planned for April 17) • Watermain and sanitary sewer has been completed in Stage 1 • Currently in the process of installing new services to buildings

WHERE ARE WE NOW PROJECT SCHEDULE: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE *Started April 26 STAGE 1: ERB STREET TO BRIDGEPORT ROAD Planned Duration: April to July 2017 Progress Update: August – Roadway Complete 2016-10-21 September – Sidewalk Complete

PROJECT SCHEDULE: WHERE ARE WE NOW • Erb to Dupont – roadway to be completed by the end of July, followed by work in the sidewalk area in August • Streetlights and trees will be completed in September - October with other stages • Dupont to Bridgeport – roadway anticipated to be completed by end of August with sidewalk work in September • King Street to remain closed to through traffic until September when is completed at King-Erb intersection

WHERE ARE WE GOING PROJECT SCHEDULE: STAGE 2 CONSTRUCTION Start of Stage 2 work KING STREET INTERSECTION KING STREET, ERB STREET TO ION TRACKS ERB STREET, KING STREET TO ALBERT STREET Progress Update: July to September 2017 Bell work underway "King – Erb intersection scheduled to open in September as planned" ERB STREET, WATERLOO TOWN ENTRANCE TO ALBERT STREET Progress Update: September to November 2017 2016-10-21

WHERE ARE WE GOING PROJECT SCHEDULE: STAGE 2 – CONSTRUCTION UPDATE STAGE 2: Traffic Control Traffic detour via Albert Street while King and Erb intersection closed from July to September 2016-10-21

WHAT’S PLANNED NEXT PROJECT SCHEDULE: STAGING OF CONSTRUCTION UPDATE *Start date to be Deferred to Spring confirmed 2018 or 2019 2-way detour during Stage 2 STAGE 3: BRIDGEPORT ROAD TO ELGIN STREET Planned Duration: August to November 2017 Progress Update: September to November 2017 2016-10-21

MOVING FORWARD COMMUNICATIONS: • BIA is provided daily updates on construction progress • Weekly construction updates are provided by the BIA on behalf of the Region (via email) • Business directional signage facilitated by the BIA for installation on the fencing • BIA "Choose Local” campaign has commenced • Additional marketing and directional signage to be placed on other Region Roads • On-site construction ambassadors to provide direction and guidance for pedestrians
