MISSION STATEMENT TRIO Talent Search is a federally funded program that promotes and prepares middle school and high school students of Cleveland County for college success
TRIO OBJECTIVES • Connections to academic tutoring • Secondary course selection/Initial postsecondary course selection • Financial literacy education • Mentoring • Exposure to campus life and cultural events • Encourage family involvement in student success
PATHWAY TO SUCCESS Enroll in TRIO Talent Search Graduate from high school Enroll in College Enroll in TRIO Student Support Services Graduate from college
STUDENT COMMITMENT • Participants will remain in TRIO Talent Search until he/she receive a high school diploma, unless the student opt out or Project Director dismisses the student. • Participants must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. • Participants must comply with school and community behavior and attendance policies. • Participants must accumulate at least four contacts (individually/group) each year. • Participants should inform TRIO of any changes in contact information, residence, or school. • Check your e-mail regularly.
PARENTAL COMMITMENT • Encourage your student to stay active in TRIO and meet with Success Coach regularly • Encourage your student to participate in TRIO sponsored college tours and other cultural events • Cancel any registrations at least 7 days prior to the activity • Continue to be an advocate for college entry • Contact TRIO with any changes in your student contact, residence, or school.
