  2. Why these Awards? The Innovation Awards for Franco-Chinese Teams were organized for the first time in 2014 as part of the initiative « France Technology - so French, so Innovative », led by the France-China Committee. In 2018, 4 categories of Awards (R & D, Innovative Product, Innovative Initiative and F 2 ) will be rewarded for this 5 th edition. Type of Awards Under this competition, these Awards aim to reward innovative projects of excellence that have been jointly developed by bicultural Franco-Chinese teams. These teams may be from universities, French Grandes Ecoles and laboratories, or from research and development centers and/or French and/or Chinese companies. In this way, the whole chain of French-style innovation is represented. The innovations could be innovative technologies, products or services, with a significant impact in social, economic, industrial and environmental terms: 1. R&D (Research & Development) Award : this prize is awarded for innovations, not yet placed on the market, developed by one and/or a combination of public or private research units such as research and development centers, and/or institutes, and/or company laboratories, 2. Innovative Product Award: this prize is awarded for innovations which are already on sale on the market and for which a patent has been filed, by the date that the Competition application is submitted, 3. Innovative Initiative Award: this prize is awarded for any other innovation, including ideas, software, business models, organizational methods or similar procedures already implemented within an organization. 4. F 2 Award: the prize is awarded to one French and one Chinese following the 2018 selection of the F 2 initiative (forty under forty), organized by the French Tech hubs in China. The F2 initiative aims to honor two personalities less than 40 years old, in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), among the 40 personalities of AI (20 French and 20 Chinese). Institutionnal support Under the patronage of French Ministry of Economy and Finances, and French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation With the special support from The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France Chairman of the Jury The French National Center for Scientific Research

Ambassador of the Awards The Awards are supported by: • Mr. Jean-Pierre RAFFARIN , personality at the heart of the France-China diplomatic relationship, former Prime minister, Honorary Member of French Parliament, Chairman of the Fondation Prospective et Innovation . • Mr. Cédric VILLANI, mathematician and politician, Winner of the 2010 Fields Medal, Delegate of the 5 th District of Essonne at the French National Assembly and Chairman of the OPECST (Parliamentary Office for the Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Options). Jury The Awards will be awarded by a Franco-Chinese jury chaired in 2017 by the French National Center for Scientific Research and whose members will be drawn from French and Chinese institutions, companies, and scientific world. The winning Teams of the Awards will be chosen by the Jury from 9 pre-selected finalist projects between September and October 2018 for the first three categories of the Awards and 6 personalities (3 French and 3 Chinese) for the F 2 Award . The finalists will pitch front of the Jury members in France and in China. Assessment criteria Projects for the first three categories will be assessed based on the following criteria: • The emphasis placed on the involvement of Franco-Chinese team in the innovation process • Innovative aspects • Economic viability • The usefulness of the project in industrial, economic, environmental and social terms. Projects for the category F 2 will be assessed based on the following criteria: • The reputation in the field of Artificial Intelligence in the Franco-Chinese ecosystem • Richness of their research and / or applications in the field of Artificial Intelligence • Impact of their work on Artificial Intelligence The Awards ceremony It will be held in Paris on 4 December 2018 as part of the Franco-Chinese Purple Night of the France-China Committee. The France-China Committee, organizer of the Awards The France-China Committee gathers French companies active in France and China in the long term and working together for their development with China. Dean of the Franco-Chinese economic relationship, China's expert since 1979, the France-China Committee has become a key player in high-level Franco-Chinese economic diplomacy. Its mission is to promote the French offer in China and Franco-Chinese cooperation, which brings common values and mutual interests to France and China.
