PREFERENCES There are various pathways through Key Stage 4, dependent upon the Option preferences students make. All courses are available to all students, but clear guidance is given over the most appropriate choices that depends on the interests and abilities of individual students. A limited number of Collaborative courses are available, but involvement in these courses will limit the potential to follow Option preferences here in school.

PREFERENCE CHOICES Separate Science is only available to academically high performing students Choice of a Collaborative course will limit choices here at school Choice of the Marches Apprenticeship will also limit choices here at school and is only available to a limited number of students
SUMMARY OPTION CHOICE A- GCSE or BTEC, Collaborative course or the Marches Apprenticeship OPTION CHOICE B – GCSE or BTEC OPTION CHOICE C – GCSE or BTEC OPTION CHOICE D – GCSE or BTEC Only one Option Choice can be a BTEC
QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications in Key Stage 4 are available at different levels: LEVEL 3- equal to A Levels LEVEL 2- equal to grades A* to C at GCSE LEVEL 1- equal to grades D to G at GCSE ENTRY LEVEL - below grade G at GCSE
QUALIFICATIONS The Government has identified a new measure of achievement called the English Baccalaureate. It is likely that this will be a measure against which all students may be judged and therefore we have set up a system where students will be able to maximise the chances for their future.
COLLABORATIVE COURSES These are the possible subjects that can be studied: Animal Care – Level 1 and Level 2 BTEC in Construction – Level 1 Hair and Beauty – Level 2 Motor Vehicle Studies – Level 1 The Marches Apprenticeship
QUALITY DECISIONS Now it is time for decisions, but before that is done it is vital that students do the following things: - talk with their parents - talk with their teachers - talk with others who have done the course and then move towards an accurate decision they can be happy with.

The End of the Process By May the majority of pupils will be settled into choices. Where there is any cause for concern, further time will be given to resolve any difficulties.
