Credentials for Teachers of Diverse Learners • Earned a credential or completed a training from the ODE approved list • Work with English Language Learners who have been in the U.S. 3 years or less • Work with students with significant cognitive disabilities No expiration date

Pathways to Teacher Qualifications
Credentials and Training 1. Holds an ODE-approved alternative credential 2. Successfully completed an ODE-approved training for reading instruction 3. Option expires in 2016 ODE approved list is on www.education.ohio.gov.
First Year Teacher May Serve as Teacher of Record if: • Holds one of the qualifications; AND • Mentored by a staff member who meets the teacher qualifications
Assigned Teacher • Must meet the teacher qualification requirements • Gain the approval of the service by the teacher of record and the school principal • Document such an assignment in the student’s reading improvement and monitoring plan
