  1. Where Do You Set Your Thermostat?

  2. Where do you set your thermostat? • Revelation 3: 15-17 – “ I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: ”

  3. Where do you set your thermostat? • Are we on fire for God right now or are we lukewarm? Ask yourself that question. • Do we just want to be lukewarm for God? • Do we feel that we have enough God in our lives right now? • Do we feel that we are in good enough place in our lives?

  4. Where do you set your thermostat? Spue ἑμε̂ω emeo̅ em-eh'-o Of uncertain affinity; to vomit: - (will) spue.

  5. Where do you set your thermostat? • Can we make it to the Kingdom of God by being lukewarm? • Can we be saved by being spit out?

  6. Where do you set your thermostat? • Can we make it to the Kingdom of God by being lukewarm? • Can we be saved by being spit out? • Wretched • Miserable • Poor • Blind • Naked

  7. Where do you set your thermostat? • What do we put first in our lives? • Seeking a bigger house, a better car, a better job? • What does all that matter? • In comparison to the universe we are a tiny, tiny spec that lives on a somewhat bigger spec!

  8. Where do you set your thermostat? • Matthew 6:19-21 - “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (20) But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (21) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. ” • 1Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

  9. Where do you set your thermostat? • James 4:2-3 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. (3) Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. • What kind of example are we setting for the world? Are we seeking after our “things”, our families? • Are we truly seeking after God

  10. Where do you set your thermostat? Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

  11. Where do you set your thermostat? Philippians 2:1-7 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, (2) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. (3) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. (5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: (7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

  12. Where do you set your thermostat? Titus 3:3-9 - For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. (4) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, (5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; (7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ( 8 ) This (8 ) This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. ( 9 ) But (9 ) But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

  13. Where do you set your thermostat? Timothy 6:5-10 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (6) But godliness with contentment is great gain. (7) For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (8) And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. (9) But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (10) For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows

  14. Where do you set your thermostat? 1 Timothy 6:11-12 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses

  15. Where do you set your thermostat? 1 Timothy 6:17-20 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; (18) That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; (19) Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. (20) O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

  16. • Matthew 6:25-33 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (26) Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? (27) Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? (28) And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: (29) And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (30) Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? (31) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (32) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

  17. Where do you set your thermostat? “If we are not seeking the kingdom first and it's righteousness. If we are not seeking the Lord diligently every moment of every day. If we are not laying up treasures in heaven; but rather having our minds fixed on earthly pursuits, laying up treasures here on earth, and placing our minds on earthly things and the cares of this life; then what we are truly saying is "thy kingdom go", rather than having our minds steadfast and being in the manner which Messiah instructed in answering the disciples to think about and pray "thy kingdom come". -John Turner

  18. Where do you set your thermostat? Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast. (10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

  19. Where do you set your thermostat? Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
