  5. Fishing Licenses o Flooding across the state caused a slow start. o In late spring and early summer, sales were down 10-15°/o. o For the year, nonresident fishing licenses down just under 1 °/o o Resident fishing licenses increased by less than 1 °/o

  6. Small Game Licenses o Down from 2010. Some decline was anticipated, as August roadside pheasant counts were down 40°10. o Nonresident sales declined 4. 9°/o, to just under 97,000. o Resident sales declined 3. 7°10, to just over 89,000. o Nonresident licenses to hunt on shooting preserves increased by almost 4°10, to just over 10,000.

Park Visitation and Revenue o Camping - 239,038 units Down 9%, primarily due to flooding and resulting park closures o Visitation - 7 .2 million visitors After a record year in 2010, flooding, associated park closures and an i nclement spring resulted in a 9% decline o Revenue Down 2% over the 2010 record year, but anticipated an 8% increase as result of fee increases (i.e. $2 camping increase)

Enhancing Outdoor Opportunities o WIA program - enrolled 1.3 million acres at a cost of $2.2 million. o WIA contract - used $618c000 in USDA Farm Service grant dollars for signing bonus on multiyear contracts for CRP and WRP land, emphasizing on southeast South Dakota. o Special Access Areas program - enrolled over 43,000 acres in northeast South Dakota. These areas are primarily working farmlands leased for waterfowl hunting. Allowances made for vehicle traffic to set/retrieve decoys. o Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program - enrolled 55,000 acres in 20 counties in the James River Watershed.

Handicap accessible 7.5-acre pond with fishing piers, parking and trails which are accessible to persons with disabilities. o Ice fishing access provided to 57 lakes last winter by using GFP personnel and private contractors. o Improved boat ramps and docks at Bitter Lake, Oak Lake, East Oakwood Lake, Brakke Dam, Lake Byron, Cavour Lake and Snake Creek on Lake Francis Case. Wheelchair accessible dock added at Lake Lakota.
