Opening words by Spencer Shorte Mission CTLS aims to support the following purposes: Promote and support individuals, groups of scien0sts, administrators, • and organiza0ons within the scien0fic community to improve the availability, quality and scien0fic output of technological core facili0es/research infrastructures and other shared resources in the field of Life Sciences and Biomedicine. Define and implement instruments for policy, standards and opera0ons • improving the scien0fic impact and value of technology-based shared resources. Support and facilitate educa0on, and communica0on enhancing the scien0fic • performance and professionaliza0on of shared resource facili0es (“cores”).
Opera0onal Goals The CTLS asspcia0on aims to achieve our mission by means of: • Mobilizing a professional community of scien:sts working in, around and with shared resources • Establishing tools and resources for change including quality, tech-transfer, financial and in-kind exchange within CTLS and with other professional associa0ons and organiza0ons • Promo:ng communica:on and career development through training, educa0on, mentorship and conferences

Communica:ons Working Group Mission statement The CTLS working group on communica0ons will present the public face of the associa0on to the world. Working through the internet we will construct and administer the webpages of the associa0on and create 0e ins to social media plaoorms to inform the general public about what the associa0on does and increase the visibility of core facili0es in European life science research. The communica0ons working group will be responsible for internal and external publicity regarding the nature and ac0vi0es of the organiza0on and ensure that contact between members is facilitated.
Funding Working Group Mission statement The Mission for the Funding WG will be to explore all possible avenues of funding for CTLS in order to secure sources of sustainable income. i.e. establishing a « business model » for the CTLS associa:on
Membership Working Group Mission statement The membership working group’s mission aims to ensure that the membership of the associa0on steadily increases, is broadly representa0ve of core facility diversity (exper0se, geographic loca0on and gender) and includes both academic and industrial members. We will reach out to academic, ins0tu0onal and industrial staff to inform them about the benefits of CTLS membership and encourage them to become ac0ve members of the associa0on.
