  1. - TD. THURBER ENGINEERING L ALBERT A TRANSPORTATION PEACE REGION (PEACE RIVER I HIGH LEVEL) INSTRUMENTATION MONITORING RESULTS FALL 2012 SECTION C SITE PH10: HWY 726:02, EUREKA RIVER 1. OBSERVATIONS Field Program and Instrumentation Status 1.1 One slope inclinometer (SI08-4) and one pneumatic piezometer (PN08-4) were read at the Hwy 726:02 Eureka River site on October 2, 2012 by Mr. Chad Gray, C.E.T. and Ms. Jessica Pryer, T.T., of Thurber Engineering Ltd. (Thurber). wheelbase and a RST Pocket The Sl was read using a RST Digitallndinometer probe with 2 f t readout. lnd inometer reading depths were defined as per cable markings with respect to the P C top of the inclinometer cas i ng . The pneumatic piezometer was read using a RST C108 pneumatic piezometer reader. 2. INTERPRETATION 2 . 1 General Sl plots for A and B directions are presented in Section D and are summa ri zed below. 2. - T H U R B E R Zones of Movement 2.2 Zones of new movement were not observed in SIOS-4 since the last set of readings in spring 2012. Zones of old movement are summarized in Table PH10-1 at the end of this report. This table also provides a historical account of the total movement, the depth of movement, and the maximum rate of movement that has occurred at this site since the initialization of the slope inclinometers. Interpretation of Monitoring Results 2.3 Since the last set of readings in spring 2012, SIOS-4 has registered an incremental movement o f 7.0 m to 8.8 m, corresponding to a rate of movement of 2.0 mm/yr. 0.6 mm at a depth o f PN08-4 showed a decrease in water level of 0.34 m. The results are presented in Table PH10-2. RECOMMENDATIONS 3 . 3 . 1 F u t u r e Work The area is experiencing continued slide movements, and should be visually monitored by TRANS personnel and the MCI when possible. As the boundaries of the slide extend across the road, any significant slide movement would cause traffic disruption. The instruments should be read again duri ng the spring 2013 program. Instrumentation Repairs 3.2 instruments need repair at this site. N o Date: November 29, 2012 Client: Alberta Transportation File : 15-16-276 Page 2 of 4 e- fi le: \\ H\15\16-276 rpt PH1 0 - E d m
