Why HAFLS? • Works with c.5500 people a year • The vast majority have multiple barriers to learning and employment: o low levels of literacy/numeracy, long-term unemployed, learning difficulties and disabilities incl. Mental Health issues, single parents, addictions, etc. • Adult education / Community learning � Feeling more connected / less isolated � Increase aspirations � Improve health � Leads to possibilities then opportunities � HAFLS = a network of partners
The Herts Tackling Loneliness steering group • 4 HCC Commissioning teams • CCGs • The voluntary sector: Age UK, CVS, Herts Connect • District councils • GP – social prescribing • University of Herts � Meets monthly since February � Links to all their networks &partnerships
