Agenda Security Safety 3 3
Critical Infrastructure Security 4 4
Infrastructure Security - Challenges NERC Requirements • All cyber systems are identified and access is physically secured; • Personnel with business/operational needs to access cyber systems, including employees and contractors, are identified and documented; • Owners/operators grant and revoke access based on changing business/operational needs; and • Access to cyber systems is monitored and documented. Challenges with Current Solutions • Physical key management is difficult and in-effective; • Granular access control is near impossible with physical keys; • Lack of audit trail for compliance purposes with physical keys; • Lack of accountability and visibility from a security and safety perspective with physical keys; and • Traditional HID electronic badge systems are too costly to implement at many distributed assets. 5 5
Infrastructure Security - Solution Digital Rugged, passively powered locks in various form Locks & factors. Electronic keys with secure encrypted RFID Key and Bluetooth communication. Mobile Mobile application for control of electronic App keys and managing workflows and tasks. Cloud-hosted or on-premise Software solutions for managing and tracking permissions and operations. 6 6
Infrastructure Security - Benefits Secure and easy to use 1 The Youtech Smart Lock system provides granular control of physical access to critical facilities. Owners and operators of distributed electric system facilities, including solar, wind, and energy storage facilities, can greatly enhance security by increasing control and visibility of their physical assets. No battery or other constant power sources needed 2 Youtech Smart Locks require no batteries and are designed to operate for a lifetime in the harshest conditions providing excellent operational reliability and eliminate the need for expensive hard-wire power. One electronic key to replace many 3 A single Youtech smart key can manage thousands of smart locks, greatly simplifying lock and key management. Easy and secure access control management 4 Operating permissions are issued or revoked dynamically eliminating the need to replace or rekey locks when personnel and contractors change or when a key goes missing. Operating permissions can be managed on individual, group, department or site basis. 7 7
Infrastructure Security - Benefits Automated recordkeeping/audit trail 5 Record of all personnel, business role, permissions, permission history, and time stamped history of device operation is constantly maintained. All locking/unlocking operations are recorded with a time stamp providing a robust audit trail. Real-time monitoring 6 Youtech Smart Locks communicate directly with any smart phone via Bluetooth, and the Youtech Secure mobile application communicates directly with the servers for real-time monitoring and control in the field. Secure and flexible information technology platform 7 Customers may choose to deploy the access control software on its own information system or take advantage of growing popular cloud computing offerings such as Amazon’s AWS or Microsoft’s Azure. Cost Effective 8 The innovative design of our passively powered digital locks, as well as the advantage of cloud computing, allows us to offer this state-of-the-art physical security management system at competitive prices as compared with similar systems that requires batteries or traditional hard-wired HID-badge systems. 8 8

Switching Safety - Challenges To error is human Even with the best practices of safety culture, training and procedures, people can still make mistakes because we are not perfect. Other challenges includes changing workforces and operational complexity. In 2011, a switching error caused a widespread blackout in Southwest US and Northern Mexico. Billions of dollars were lost as result. NERC issued ~$38 million fines. The switching person was experienced and well prepared but was distracted at the time of switching. He missed a critical step to bypass the series capacitor before opening the isolation switches. He THOUGHT he completed a critical step already and marked it complete. This error can be easily prevented by Smart Interlocking technology. “FERC/NERC Staff Report on the September 8, 2011 Blackout“ 10 10
Switching Safety – Solution Smart Smart Interlocking System (SIS) models switching rules, Interlocking switchgear functions/capability and network topology to determine if a switching step is safe or not and uses a smart System key to carry out the switching steps. Smart Switching sequence or switching order is stored in and displayed on the smart key which guides switch key operators step-by-step to safely perform switching. RFID Switching mechanisms are physically locked by an RFID embedded embedded lock that can ONLY be unlocked by the Smart Key at the correct step of the switching sequence, preventing locks mis-operations and ensuring worker safety. 11 11
Switching Safety - Benefits Enhanced safety 1 Successfully deployed at over 30,000 locations, human errors are nearly eliminated with the help of SIS, significantly improving safety and reliability. Simulation 2 All switching sequence steps are simulated and verified to be safe before transferring to the smart key, providing an opportunity to practice switching sequences before executing. Automated switching order development 3 SIS is designed to match closely the existing switching processes and practices. Smart technology can now automate mundane and error prone activities such as manually develop a new switching order or modify an existing one, verified for safety before switching. Automated recordkeeping 4 All locking/unlocking actions are recorded with date and time stamp providing a robust audit trail and for post switching reporting and analysis. 12 12
