Annual Report – A Year of Achievement Marking 10 successful years for Swansea BID, with other BIDS being set up in Wales. 2015/16 one of the most successful for Swansea BID, in our core operational areas: Car Parking & Transportation - INCREASING foot flow • Over 237,500 vehicles used our £3 for 3 hours NCP offer, with A 3.24% increase in average dwell time. £1,472 per day in parking savings for workers. Boxing Day Park & Ride usage grew +2% year on year.

  3. Safety and Security - CREATING a safer shopper and trading environment • Working with South Wales Police, Swansea BID provided an extra 348 Police Officer hours. • Swansea BID increased dispersal notices by over 100 percent, reduced ASB by over 59 percent and reduced assaults & public order offences. • Swansea BID Taxi Marshals team dealt with 48,000 + persons visitors. • Rangers dealt with more than 35,000 activities and more than 1,500 business visits.

Marketing & Events – PROMOTING The City Centre and its Business • Marketing campaigns seen/heard by more than 1.1 million people. • Swansea BID supported and/or delivered 10 events. • Launched new Big Heart of Swansea Loyalty card app. • Provided more than 50,000 physical loyalty cards. • Advertising value equivalent on public relations & media coverage - £150,000. • 12 direct email campaigns to more than 40,000 active subscribers with open rate of 31.8 percent. • Signed up 2,000 new subscribers. • Attracted 16,800 unique website users.

Commercial Business & Facilitation - DEVELOPING a stronger voice to benefit BID businesses • Worked with landlords, owners and Universities to develop empty units – such as the Creative Bubble project with UWTSD. • Supported new and fledgling businesses to flourish. • Offered guidance on training, networking and financing to established businesses. • Continued to model research, foot flow data, spend statistics, heat mapping and geo- tasking tools. • Provided bottom-line business benefits; professional services, car parking, marketing and consumable discounts via BID • Business Toolkit. • Implemented strategies from the BITC Healthy High Street support to boost BID vibrancy.

Cleansing & Enhancement - IMPROVING the shopping and trading environment • Swansea BID’s street cleansing team have removed around 140,000 pieces of chewing gum. • The team spent more than 230 hours of additional street washing, improving the shopping and trading environment in our City Centre.

Safety and Security • Rangers dealt with over 2,000 visitor enquiries, 1,100 business visits. • Additional police officers visited 114 businesses, banned 164 people, made 46 arrests, reduced ASB by -39.9 percent and crime - 64.49 percent. • Taxi Marshals handled more than 100,000 visitors. • Best Bar None Scheme Launched. • Hospitality Forum operational. • Swansea BID is a Purple Flag delivery partner.

Marketing and Events • Swansea Triathlon • Student Shopping Event • Creative Bubble events and on street activities throughout the City Centre. • Big Heart campaigns in/on regional press with Opportunities To See or Hear of 1.3M, 4 social media competitions increasing engagement by +38 percent and app downloads by 394. • Free BID Business Benefits workshops • Media coverage for Swansea BID reaching an online readership totalling 630 million and a 90,000 print views.

 Commercial Business 
 • £22,000 worth of savings secured for businesses. • Secured additional funding from Local Authority, off-setting spend on Best Bar None scheme. • Swansea BID is an active part of City of Culture and City Regions board and teams. • Facilitated a £1.5 million benefit to businesses through the Business Enhancement program administered by the Local Authority. • 100+ Mini Christmas Trees and multi use brackets • Mystery Shopper Scheme

  13. Cleaner City Centre Streets • 126 extra hours of street washing. • 100,000 pieces of chewing gum removed. • Secured additional services from Local Authority pre-peak trade to boost and improve visitor environment.

  14. Into the Future With Swansea BID - Swansea City Centre Regeneration fly through – a £6 billion tale of regeneration and investment unfolds.

 • Continued support for private sector business growth. • Delivering additional projects and promotions to benefit BID area businesses such as more events • Launch of Swansea BID Business of the Month and City Centre Awards. • Year round Park & Ride offer. • Introduction of BID Against Retail Crime scheme • Further development of the Best Bar None scheme. • Feasibility study on Wind Street pedestrianisation. • Build upon the success of the Meercats business savings scheme. • Big Heart Gift Card, enhanced Big Heart website and Have a Heart – Give Smart project • BID response team to tackle grot spots and commercial waste issues • Street Level Business Information Centre with UWTSD for meetings, training and gatherings. • Swansea BID Intranet and further direct mail shots.
