Educational programs built on Native Hawaiian identity achieving higher impact on the Educational Pathway Milestone targets SP2020: Goal 3 Cultural knowledge, understanding, and a unified set of cultural principles (which Outcomes includes values, practices, language, history, oral traditions, etc.) that are integrated in system-wide expectations, professional Native Hawaiian Identity development opportunities, and outcomes Lands and resources that meet or exceed educational, financial, cultural, community, and sustainability targets
1. Align education systems, programs, and services to a unified set of cultural principles. 2. Align business practices and SP2020: Goal 3 stewardship of resources (people, land, assets) to a unified set of cultural Strategies principles. 3. Support, cooperate, and collaborate with community members and orgs that share a vision and commitment to the Native Hawaiian Identity collective well-being of the lahui Hawaii. 4. Manage our resources and lands to enhance prudent and sustainable use, responsible stewardship, and supportive relationships.
Cultural Principles HO ʻ ŌLA LĀHUI – Revitalizing the Hawaiian People ...we will cultivate Hawaiian Identity by providing opportunities to learn about Hawaiian history and culture, and the Hawaiian Experience (the totality of historical challenges and triumphs that over time continue to shape and advance the condition of the Hawaiian people). ALOHA ʻ ĀINA – Love of Hawai ʻ i ...we embrace traditional concepts to promote conservation, resource management, cultural restoration, and the continued nurturing of our ancestral connections with the land. (STEWARDSHIP) ...we will promote expressions of Hawaiian patriotism and opportunities to educate students, staff and families regarding Hawaiian land issues and efforts towards self-determination . (GOVERNANCE) ʻ ŌLELO HAWAI ʻ I – Hawaiian Language ...we will cultivate, nurture, perpetuate, honor and engage in the regular use of ʻ ōlelo Hawai ʻ i —the native language of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop and her lāhui. LOINA KAMEHAMEHA – Shared History, Customs and Practices ….the importance of ‘ohana and the understanding of heritage, genealogy, roles and relationships ( spiritual, human and environmental ).
