What is the SB-9 Mill-Levy? • Public Schools Capital Improvement Act commonly known as SB-9 Mill-Levy • Election held every 6 years • Benefits all students, including Charter schools • Renews current and fixed property tax rates • Will not raise property taxes 3 Vote November 5th for SB 9 Mill-Levy
Why is it important? • Primary source of funding for student technology • Key funding source for school maintenance, repairs, and capital improvements 4
What is the Mill Levy used for? • Physical safety of schools alarms and intercom systems • Safe playgrounds, athletic fields and gyms • Student computers and software • Computerized “chalk boards” for on-line teaching • Heating/cooling and roof repair • Access for disabled students Vote November 5th for SB 9 Mill-Levy 5
What is the Mill Levy Used For? • School remodeling to meet student needs ADA • Student activity buses • Security cameras and fire alarms • Student musical instruments • PE and athletic equipment • By law, it can’t be used for salaries

How is the tax calculated? • One mill equates to $1 for every $1,000 of assessed valuation, or $2 for a two-mill levy. • Assessed valuation is one-third of a property’s market value. • For example, a home with a market value of $150,000 and an assessed valuation of $50,000 can expect a tax of $100 per year, or $8.33 per month. • This is not a new tax! 2019 Two Mill Levy or SB9 Election 10
